Host a Multiplayer Server
- Run JJ2+ and get to the main menu.
- Select "New Game."
- Select "Party Mode."
- Select "Internet Play" if you want other players to be able to join from around the world, or "Local Network (TCP)" if you don't want your server to appear on the global server list.
- Select "Start a new game."
From there, pick the basic details of your server, like its name and max score!
Select a Level
If you haven't downloaded a lot of fanmade levels yet, here are the normal level filenames to type for each gamemode:
- Battle: Battle1 or Abattle1 or Xmbattle1
- Race: plusRace1
- Treasure Hunt: Treasur1
- Capture: Capture1
- Cooperative: Castle1 (the start of the original campaign)
(In unpatched JJ2, changing gamemode on this screen switched to the default level automatically, but JJ2+ takes that out because it got annoying if you knew which level you wanted.)
Other Gamemodes
If you want another gamemode besides those five, JJ2+ doesn't currently support hosting them directly from the main menu.
Instead, host any server and then use a command. For example, to host Team Battle, you could press T, type the /gamemode tb command, then press Enter. Or if you're playing JJ2 in a window, you could use the dropdown menu to click Game → Set Game Mode To… → Team Battle.
Similarly, if you're tired of the current level, you can press T, type /c for "cycle," then press Enter. Or from the dropdown menu, click Game → Next Level.

Pinging Server
If you chose "Internet Play" but the word "pinging" always appears next to your server in the server list, that means nobody else can join it.
You must forward TCP ports 10052/10054 from your router to your computer.
Every router has a different interface, so we can't give you detailed instructions here. Search the internet for the brand/model of your router, and terms like "port forwarding," until you find instructions.

CGNAT
If your ISP puts you behind Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT), port forwarding is impossible for you. Try to contact your ISP and ask them for help.
