Many commands require a playerID. This is the number next to that player (starting at 1 for the server host) in the player list seen when pressing F9 or Tab.

For Server and Remote Admins Only

Main Server

Server List Info

Gamemode
chat:/gamemode <name>

Changes the gamemode. All unpatched and JJ2+ modes are supported, including various aliases & nicknames. May cause glitches for unpatched splitscreen clients.

chat:/battle, /coop, /ctf, /dctf, /dom, /fr, /head, /jb, /lrs, /pest, /race, /rt, /sp, /tb, /tlrs, /treasure, /xlrs
cmd:-battle, -capture, -coop, -dctf, -dom, -fr, -head, -jb, -lrs, -pest, -race, -rt, -tb, -tlrs, -treasure, -xlrs

Shorthand commands equivalent to /gamemode followed by the matching name.

chat:/list
/delist
cmd:-list

Adds or removes this server to the list server so that clients can find it easily. When delisted, it is still joinable by anyone on the same LAN, or anyone who knows the IP address. The command line option requires -server.

Max Players
chat:/maxPlayers <number>
cmd:-maxPlayers <number>

Sets the maximum number of players allowed in the server, 1–32.

Max Score
chat:/maxScore <number>

Sets Max Score. May cause glitches for unpatched splitscreen clients.

In most gamemodes, setting Max Score at or below any player/team's score causes the level to cycle, or stop if Auto-Stop is enabled.

Password
chat:/password <password>

Sets server password, 1–14 characters.

If Show Passwords and IPs is turned off, the password will be censored while you type it.

chat:/relist

Attempts to rejoin the list server if the connection was lost or some information changed. This should be handled automatically now, manually relisting should not be necessary.

chat:/public
/private

Makes the server either public (not passworded) or private (requires a password to join).

Server Name
chat:/serverName <name>
cmd:-serverName="<name>"

Renames the server, 1–30 characters. The command line option requires -server.

Team Scores
chat:/blueScore <number>
/redScore <number>
/greenScore <number>
/yellowScore <number>

Sets the score of the named team. If the team's new score is greater or equal to Max Score, that team will win.

Network Code

chat:/alwaysUpdatePos <on|off>
ini:[Server]AlwaysUpdatePos

Enables/disables always updating clients of other players' positions.

chat:/blockDownloads <on|off>
ini:[Server]BlockDownloads

Enables/disables blocking downloads by clients. Clients who try to download any hosted files, including the level or tileset, will receive a network error.

IP Address
chat:/ip <playerID>

Displays the client's IP address.

Cannot be used by the server, since the server can see all IPs just by pressing F9 or Tab.

If Show Passwords and IPs is turned off, the IP address will be written to the chatlog but not shown ingame.

Max Connections
chat:/maxConnections <number>
ini:[Server]MaxConnections

Sets the maximum number of connections allowed for the server, 1–32. This is different than Max Players which accounts for splitscreeners. Clients running very old JJ2+ versions cannot join servers with 16 or more connections. Unpatched clients can join such servers, but won't see chat from any client (including themselves) whose connection number is above 15.

Max Upload Packet Size
chat:/maxUploadPacketSize <bytes>
ini:[Server]MaxUploadPacketSize

The maximum upload packet size (in bytes) for clients, 256–4096. Only the server host may use this, not remote admins.

chat:/uploadMusic <on|off>
ini:[Server]UploadMusic

Enables/disables uploading music to clients, a JJ2+ feature.

Use Any Local Address
ini:[Server]UseAnyLocalAddress

When false, JJ2+ will bind to a single local IP address when creating listen sockets. You probably don't want to change this setting.

General

chat:/shutUp <on|off>

Only the server and any logged-in remote admins are allowed to chat.

chat:/allowReady <on|off>
ini:[Server]AllowReady

Toggles the availability of the /ready command.

chat:/allowMouseAim <on|off>
ini:[Server]AllowMouseAim

Toggles the availability of 360 Degree Aiming.

chat:/allowSuicide <on|off>
ini:[Server]AllowSuicide

Toggles the availability of clients using the !k command to commit suicide. This setting should be renamed at some point.

chat:/allowWallJump <on|off>
ini:[Server]AllowWalljump

Toggles the availability of the "walljumping" bug.

chat:/antiRadar <on|off>
ini:[Server]AntiRadar

Limits information sent by server. If enabled, clients don't receive positional and health information about other players outside their view, except flag carriers, and then only enough so the hint arrow points in the right direction. Splitscreen clients still receive most of the "real" data; if you are concerned about cheating, try Block Splitscreen Players. No effect in Race, where players positions are shown in the minimap.

chat:/noSplitScreeners <on|off>
ini:[Server]NoSplitscreeners

Splitscreen clients are not allowed to join the server. Does not affect the server host even if the server is running splitscreen.

Difficulty
chat:/difficulty <easy|medium|hard|turbo>
cmd:-easy, -medium, -hard, -turbo

Sets what the server's Difficulty will be next time the level cycles. Mostly affects whether certain events are loaded from the event map and some details of some enemies' behaviors.

Kill
chat:/k <playerID>

Kills player (not counted as a death).

chat:/latestVersionOnly <on|off>
ini:[Server]LatestVersionOnly

Any clients running JJ2+ must be running at least as recent a JJ2+ version as the server. (All older-plus clients are automatically kicked.)

Max Resolution
chat:/maxResolution <width>x<height>
ini:[Server]MaxResolutionWidth, [Server]MaxResolutionHeight

Sets the maximum viewable area for online games. No effect on unpatched clients. This is shown at the bottom in the debug HUD from pressing F9 twice if your resolution is different than the max resolution.

chat:/plusonly <on|off>
ini:[Server]PlusOnly

Allows only JJ2+ clients in the server. (All unpatched clients are automatically kicked.) Enables certain features:

This is shown on the left in the debug HUD from pressing F9 twice, labeled as P.

Rename
chat:/rename <playerID> <name>

Changes player's name to a new name.

chat:/antiRadarSpecHealth <on|off>
ini:[Server]AntiRadarSpectateHealth

By default anti-radar mode sends "fake" health information to spectators. When this is on, spectators see players' actual health instead.

Spam Interval
chat:/spamInterval <milliseconds>
ini:[Server]SpamIntervalInMillis

Determines the amount of time in milliseconds for displaying another consecutive chat message by a client. The default value is 1000 milliseconds (1 second), while the maximum value is 10000 milliseconds (10 seconds).

Setting this to 0 disables the spam kicker entirely.

chat:/spawnObjects

Forces all allowed objects created by generators to spawn if they aren't spawned already.

Welcome Message
chat:/welcomeMessage <message>
ini:[Server]WelcomeMessage

Sets the welcome message clients see when they join the server, 1–50 characters, if Welcomer is on.

chat:/welcomer <on|off>
ini:[Server]Welcomer

When on, clients are greeted with a custom message when they join.

chat:/whispering <on|off>
ini:[Server]Whispering

Toggles the availability of the /whisper command.

Idle Player Management

chat:/kickIdlers <on|off>
ini:[Server]KickIdlers

Enables/disables automatically kicking idlers.

ini:[Server]IdleServer

Enables/disables Idle Server mode. (Also automatically enabled after an hour [or 5 minutes if minimized] of server inactivity in any gamemodes besides Single Player, Cooperative, Treasure Hunt, or Race.)

Idle Server mode is similar to spectating, but the server does not appear in the player list, neither ingame nor in the server list. Press Ctrl+Enter to resume play. Only the server host may use this, not remote admins.

Idle Time
chat:/idleTime <minutes>
ini:[Server]IdleTime

Sets the max number of minutes a client can idle before getting kicked.

Spectating

See "Spectating" section.

chat:/spectating <on|off>
ini:[Server]AllowSpectating

Allows/disallows all clients running JJ2+ to request to (un)spectate using the /spectate command.

The host will always be able to spectate even when this setting is disabled, as will remote admins whose admin group allows the /forceSpectate command, which beats this setting.

Force Spectate
chat:/forceSpectate <playerID|all> <on|off>

Forces spectator mode on/off for specified player or all players, even when Allow Spectating is disabled. Splitscreen player are all forced to (un)spectate together. No effect on unpatched clients.

chat:/joinersSpectate <on|off>
ini:[Server]JoinersSpectate

Enables/disables automatic spectating for players joining with JJ2+. Unpatched clients will not be able to join the server.

Remote Admin

See "Remote Admin" page. Everything in this section is usable only by the server host: remote admins cannot change the settings for themselves or other remote admins. These commands are mostly pretty laborious and editing admin.ini is recommended instead.

Admin Allowed Command
chat:/addAllowedCommand <group> <command>
/removeAllowedCommand <group> <command>

Adds/removes an allowed command for the specified group.

Admin Blocked Command
chat:/addBlockedCommand <group> <command>
/removeBlockedCommand <group> <command>

Adds/removes an blocked command for the specified group.

chat:/adminGroup <group> <on|off>

Enables/disables the specified admin group.

Admin IP
chat:/addAdminIP <group> <ip_address>
/removeAdminIP <group> <ip_address>

Adds/removes an Auto Admin IP address for the specified group.

Admin Privilege
chat:/addPrivilege <group> <privilege>
/removePrivilege <group> <privilege>

Adds/removes a privilege for the specified group.

Get Admin Password
chat:/getAdminPass <group>

Displays password needed for admins to login for the specified group. Not available if Show Passwords and IPs is turned off.

chat:/remoteAdmin <on|off>
ini:[Server]RemoteAdmin

Enables/disables admin access

chat:/resetAdmins <on|off>

Reloads the admin configuration file (admin.ini). If remote admin is enabled and any players are logged in, first logs all players out, then reloads the file and attempts to log all players back in with passwords of their previous groups. Then, for all players who are still not logged in, attempts to automatically log them in based on their IP.

Set Admin Password
chat:/setAdminPass <group> <password>

Sets password (8–20 alphanumeric characters) needed for admins to login for the specified group.

Kick/Ban

Ban
chat:/ban [<time>{s|m|h|d}] {<playerID>|<ip_address>} [<reason>]

Bans specified player or IP address. Asterisks can be used as wildcards for the IP address. Replaces unpatched JJ2's ban <playerID> (no slash) and fixes the issue of the server host not seeing a "was BANNED" message.

When banning an IP address, players who have the banned IP will NOT be automatically kicked.

The optional ban time can be set to a number of seconds, minutes, hours, or days, and ban time must be between 5 seconds and 30 days. If no ban time is specified, the player or IP address is banned indefinitely.

If reason is specified, all clients running JJ2+ will see the reason.

Examples: /ban 30s 2 Bye bans player 2 for 30 seconds with a reason of "Bye". /ban 5h 127.0.0.1 bans IP 127.0.0.1 for 5 hours with no reason given.

Kick
chat:/kick <playerID|all> [<reason>]

Kicks this player and shows the reason, if specified, to all clients running JJ2+. Replaces unpatched JJ2's kick <playerID> (no slash) and fixes the issue of the server host not seeing a "was kicked off" message.

Unban
chat:/unban <ip_address|all>

Removes ban for a single or all IP addresses. Asterisks can be used as wildcards.

This command cannot be used to unban IP addressses banned through unpatched JJ2's ban command, or Banlist.lst.

Start/Stop & Time-Based

See "Timers & Gamestates" section.

chat:/autoStart <on|off>
ini:[Server]Auto-Cycle

Level automatically cycles after the time limit is reached.

chat:/autoStart <on|off>
ini:[Server]Auto-Start

Game automatically starts after the level cycles.

chat:/autoStop <on|off>
ini:[Server]Auto-Stop

Game automatically stops after the time limit is reached or after a player/team wins in any non-SP/Coop gamemode. Works poorly with unpatched clients.

chat:/noMovement <on|off>
ini:[Server]NoMovement

Totally stops game actions (except for chatting and menus) while the game is stopped (using /stop or similar). Bullets, players, and other objects do not move; generating objects do not regenerate.

When game is stopped:

  • Players running JJ2+ have movement disabled.
  • Players not running JJ2+ are sent to the bottom-left corner.

When game is started:

  • Players running JJ2+ may move again.
  • Players not running JJ2+ die (and flags will be lost).

Clients running JJ2+ v5.0 or above in servers running v4.3 or below use an older, less powerful version of this for backwards compatibility. Clients running v4.3 or below in serers running v5.0 or above also use the old behavior, but nothing regenerates for them, and if they fall too far (or otherwise move too great a distance) while the game is stopped, then their position is reset when the game starts.

chat:/overtime <on|off>
ini:[Server]Overtime

Toggles the server having an Overtime if no player/team reaches the Max Score. This is shown on the left in the debug HUD from pressing F9 twice, labeled with a blue OT.

Overtime automatically enables Damage Amplifier in Battle, Last Rabbit Standing (LRS), Pestilence, Roast Tag, Team Battle, TLRS, and XLRS

chat:/otLimit <minutes> [reset];
ini:[Server]OvertimeLimit

How long Overtimes should last, unless ended by someone winning.

chat:/pregame <on|off>
ini:[Server]Pregame

Toggles the server having a Pregame before each level. Pregames are automatically extended if there are not enough active players in the server.

The pregame is mandatory in Jailbreak, Last Rabbit Standing (LRS), Pestilence, Race, TLRS, and XLRS

chat:/pregame <time>[s] [reset];
ini:[Server]PregameTimeLimit

How long Pregames should last, unless automatically extended.

chat:/start

Starts game (if it was stopped/paused).

chat:/start

Starts game (if it was stopped/paused) after a five-second coundown.

chat:/readyStart <on|off>
ini:[Server]Ready-Start

Game automatically starts (after a countdown) if all visible, non-spectating players in the server have used the /ready command. Obviously only applicable if Allow Ready is turned on.

chat:/stop

Stops game.

chat:/stop

Stops game after a five-second countdown.

Time
chat:/time

Displays time limit and time left.

chat:/timeLimit <minutes> [reset];
ini:[Server]TimeLimit

Sets time limit for when the game is not Pregame or Overtime.

Cycling and Next Level

See "Level List" section. Arguably these are the most important commands in JJ2+; hosting a server in unpatched JJ2 meant you had to wait for someone to win anytime you wanted to play a new level, and you were limited to the Next Level specified inside each level file.

chat:/c

Cycles to the next level.

chat:/c <level_filename>

Changes what the next level is, if it exists, then cycles.

chat:/llAutoShuffle <on|off|name>
ini:[Server]LLAutoShuffle

Enables/disables automatic shuffling of the levels within the Level List.

chat:/levelList <on|off|name>
cmd:-levellist
-levellist=<name>
ini:[Server]LevelList

Toggles Level List Cycling. If using on, the default level list for this gamemode will be chosen; otherwise you can choose your own level list. The command line option requires -server.

Next Level
chat:/n

Displays filename of the next level.

chat:/nr

Sets Next Level to the current level.

chat:/r

Restarts level (i.e. cycles to current level).

chat:/n <level_filename>

Changes what the next level is, if it exists.

Set Next Level from Level List
chat:/levelList <number>
cmd:-levellist=<number>

Sets next level to the Level List file belonging to the specified number. The command line option requires -server.

chat:/levelList shuffle

Shuffles the current Level List

Team-Based Gamemodes

chat:/autoShuffle <on|off>
ini:[CTF.Settings]AutoShuffle

Automatically shuffles all player's teams at the start of the level.

Doesn't make sure splitscreeners stay on the same teams.

Also, players may not always start at the correct start positions.

chat:/evenTeams <on|off>
ini:[CTF.Settings]EvenTeams

When on, newly joining/unspectating players are sorted to whichever team has fewer players, and if there's a tie, whichever has fewer points. When off, players are sorted just based on their player number.

chat:/selfSwap <on|off>
ini:[CTF.Settings]SelfSwap

Lets clients choose their own teams.

Shuffle Team
chat:/shuffle <playerID>

The same as the general /shuffle command, but only affects one player at a time.

chat:/shuffle

Shuffles all players' teams.

Doesn't make sure splitscreeners stay on the same teams.

Shuffling teams several seconds after a level cycles or while players are still connecting may cause players to spawn at the wrong start positions.

Swap
chat:/swap <playerID|all> [blue|red|green|yellow]

Changes the team for the specified player, or all players.

Doesn't make sure splitscreeners stay on the same teams.

If a team is specified, assigns the specified player/s to that team.

chat:/teams {<blue|red|green|yellow|all> <on|off>|default}
ini:[CTF.Settings]BlueTeam
[CTF.Settings]RedTeam
[CTF.Settings]GreenTeam
[CTF.Settings]YellowTeam

Enables or disables each of the four team colors. If only one team is enabled, all players will be on that team and (unless Friendly Fire is on) will be unable to hurt each other. Writing /teams default will turn Blue and Red on, and Green and Yellow off. The Green and Yellow teams are only currently available in the Team Battle, Team Last Rabbit Standing, and Domination gamemodes.

Mutators

See "Mutators" section.

chat:/mutators all off

Next time the game cycles, all mutators will be disabled.

chat:/mutators

Writes out a list of all mutators that will be in play next time the game cycles, using their names (if defined) or else their filenames.

chat:/mutators <filename> <on|off>
cmd:-mutators=<filename>[,<filename>][,...]
-mutators+=<filename>[,<filename>][,...]
ini:[Add-on]Mutators

Enables or disables one or more mutators on the host's harddrive next time the game cycles. Assumes the file extension .mut even if not typed.

Non-command-line variants: Because mutators may need to run setup code at the beginning of a level, adding a mutator to the active mutator list does not actually run its script until the next cycle, and nor does removing a mutator stop running its script until then.

Command-line variants: Writing = means the command line list will replace the [Add-on]Mutators list; writing += means the two lists will be added together. At this time, no effect on local single player games, but that may change in the future.

Gameplay Add-Ons

chat:/corpsesDropAmmo <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]CorpsesDropAmmo

When enabled, players who are roasted will drop their ammo as pickups for other players to collect. If a player had more than 15 of an ammo type, they will drop only five pickups; otherwise, the number of pickups for each ammo type will match how much ammo they were carrying at the time of their death. Blaster and/or weapons that are configured in AngelScript to be infinite will never be dropped.

chat:/da <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]DamageAmplifier

When enabled (including sometimes automatically in Overtime), all shots do 1 extra heart of damage.

chat:/evilIce <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]EvilIce

Makes ice hurt (as well as freeze) other players in multiplayer matches. When Strong Powerups is also on, powered-up ice hurts for two hearts.

chat:/extendedTNT <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]ExtendedTNT

Increases the maximum distance that TNT can hurt other players, compared to unpatched JJ2's distance.

Extra Gem Drops
chat:/extraGemDrops <number|default>
ini:[Add-On]ExtraGemDrops

By default in Treasure Hunt, players who are hurt lose either all their gems or the jjWEAPON::gemsLost number of the weapon that attacked them, whichever is lower. Using this command with a non-default number (1–10) adds a constant number of extra gems created each time a player is hurt, not taken from that player's gems.

By default in Head Hunters, players who are roasted lose all their gems plus one extra. Using this command with a non-default number (2–10) changes how many extra gems are lost each time a player is roasted.

chat:/fireball <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]Gun8Fireball

Replaces Pepper Spray with the fireball gun from beta versions of JJ2. Powered-up fireballs hurt for 2 hearts even without Strong Powerups

chat:/friendlyFire <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]FriendlyFire

Allows players who are on the same team to hurt and even roast each other. Requires Plus Only to be on.

chat:/ffPointDec <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]FFPointDec

What happens if you roast someone on your team? If off, the other team gains a point. If on, then your team loses a point.

Obviously only does anything if Friendly Fire and Plus Only are both on.

chat:/frustration <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]Frustration

In Frustration, players who get a roast will also die themselves.

chat:/gemTransfer <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]GemTransfer

When enabled in Treasure Hunt or Head Hunters, gems that would be dropped as objects are instead immediately transferred to the player who hurt/roasted the player losing the gems.

chat:/hfk <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]HealthFromKills

When enabled, players who get a roast will get some health.

Health From Kills Health Incresae
chat:/hfkHealthInc <number>
ini:[Add-On]HfkHealthInc

How many hearts, -6 to 6, players gain or lose from roasting when Health From Kills is on.

Health From Kills Max Health
chat:/hfkMaxHealth <number>
ini:[Add-On]HfkMaxHealth

The highest number of hearts, 1–7, that players can reach through Health From Kills. Can't be higher than Max Health.

chat:/instagib <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]Instagib

In Instagib, players die in one hit and explode into little red particles instead of showing the usual death animations. Plays the same as /smHealth 1.

Max Health
chat:/maxHealth <number|default>
ini:[Add-on]MaxHealth

Sets the maximum number of hearts, 1–7, that players can get. This is shown on the left in the debug HUD from pressing F9 twice, labeled as M.

Picking default means it will always be 3 in team-based gamemodes and otherwise 5.

Warning: If Plus Only is off and this is not default, unpatched clients may have glitches.

chat:/punishSDs <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]PunishSDs

Causes you to lose a point when dying to death pits or similar hazards, at least in some gamemodes.

chat:/sdTeamPointDec <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]SDTeamPointDec

What happens if you die to a death pits or similar hazard in a team-based gamemode? If off, the other team gains a point. If on, then your team loses a point.

Start & Max Health
chat:/smHealth <number|default>

Sets both Start Health and Max Health at the same time.

Start Health
chat:/startHealth <number|default>
ini:[Add-on]StartHealth

Sets the number of hearts, 1–7, that players start with. This is shown on the left in the debug HUD from pressing F9 twice, labeled as S.

Picking default means it will always be 3 in team-based gamemodes and otherwise 5.

Warning: If Plus Only is off and this is not default, unpatched clients may have glitches.

chat:/strongPowerups <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]StrongPowerups

Powered-up Ice (if Evil Ice is on), Pepper Spray, and Electroblaster hurt other players for 2 hearts, not 1 like in unpatched JJ2. The last two also get some unique graphics (also on by default in local games).

Can't be on at the same time as Weak Powerups.

TNT Damage
chat:/tntDamage <number>
ini:[Add-On]TNTDamage

How many hearts, -6 to 7, TNT hurts other players.

chat:/weakPowerups <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]WeakPowerups

Powerups hurt other players for only 1 heart, not 2. (Can still be increased to 2 by Damage Amplifier or zombies.) Doesn't change how much damage is done to enemies or destructible blocks.

Can't be on at the same time as Strong Powerups.

Players and Bullets

chat:/blastKnockback <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]BlastKnockback

When enabled, the blasts from certain weapons (particularly seekers, RFs, and TNT) cause additional knockback to nearby players, independent from Bullet Push and Injury Knockback. When disabled, players receive knockback from only their own weapons' blasts (necessary for RF climbing, TNT jumping, and so on).

chat:/bulletPush <on|off>
ini:[Server]BulletPush

When enabled, client game instances detect collisions between enemy bullets and local players, and resolve them by pushing those players out of the way, as per the game's original behavior. This can lead to a negative phenomenon where the push causes those players to avoid taking damage from the bullet. When disabled, such client-local collisions are ignored. Regardless of the value of this setting, the only time players are damaged by bullets is when the server detects a collision instead.

This setting has no effect in Race, where collisions between bullets and players are always entirely local.

chat:/injuryKnockback <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]InjuryKnockback

When enabled, players bounce high in the air upon taking damage from a bullet, the height depending on the force of the bullet (i.e. how much damage it deals in single player), following the behavior seen in vanilla JJ2 when playing in local splitscreen or as the server. When disabled, players only experience minimal knockback, similar to touching a Hurt event or being hit by a melee move.

This setting only affects clients when Bullets Push Players is disabled, since otherwise knockback can be overriden by a push, which means network conditions determine whether knockback happens or not, as per the game's original behavior.

This setting has no effect in Race.

chat:/mutualInjury <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]MutualInjury

When enabled, recently hurt players will be able to damage others during a short window of time before starting to blink.

chat:/noBlink <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]NoBlink

Normally, hurting a player makes them invincible for several seconds, like in SP/Coop. They can't be hurt, but they can't hurt other players either. Turning on No Blinking removes that grace period, so you could shoot another player five times in quick succession and roast them.

Changing Available Objects

chat:/fastAmmoRespawn <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]FastAmmoRespawn

All ammo pickups take, at most, 5 seconds to respawn. Generally used in servers with lots of players.

chat:/fastPowerupRespawn <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]FastPowerupRespawn

All powerup monitors take, at most, 5 seconds to respawn. Generally used in servers with lots of players.

chat:/noPowerups <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]NoAmmoCrates

Removes all seeker (gun4) ammo from the level.

chat:/noSeekerPowerups <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]NoSeekerPowerups

Removes all seeker (gun4) powerup monitors from the level, but leaves the other powerup monitors, unlike No Powerups.

chat:/noShields <on|off>
ini:[Add-On]NoShields

Removes all shields from the level.

Settings and Logs

chat:/autoSaveChatlog <on|off>
ini:[Logging]AutoSaveChatlog

Automatically saves the Chatlog, to chatlog001.txt unless this is not the first concurrently opened JJ2+ instance.

chat:/chatlog <on|off>
cmd:-nochatlogger
ini:[Logging]Chatlog

Enables/disables Chatlog. Trying to enable from the chat command requires a restart (after saving settings). Only the server host may use this, not remote admins.

Chatlog Theme
ini:[Logging]Theme

Sets the color for the chatlogger window. By default in Windows 10 and 11, it uses your Personalization → Colors → Default App Mode setting to pick light/dark mode. You can also write Light or Dark in plus.ini to force that color scheme, especially in older Windows versions.

Highlights
ini:[Logging]Highlights

Space-separated of words that flash JJ2+ in the taskbar if someone chats them while the game is unfocused.

chat:/iplog <on|off>
ini:[Logging]IPlog

Enables/disables IPlog. Trying to enable from the chat command requires a restart (after saving settings). Only the server host may use this, not remote admins.

chat:/stats

Logs player stats to the Playlog. Only the server host may use this, not remote admins.

chat:/playlog <on|off>
ini:[Logging]Playlog

Enables/disables Playlog. Trying to enable from the chat command requires a restart (after saving settings). Only the server host may use this, not remote admins.

chat:/resetSettings

Loads configuration settings of plus.ini (automatically done at startup).

Mainly meant for admins. Compare Load Settings, which loads your personal plus.ini instead of the server's.

Triggers

Player Trigger
chat:/pTrigger <playerID> <triggerID|all> <on|off>

Turns specified trigger or all triggers on/off for specified player.

Trigger
chat:/trigger <id|all> <on|off>

Turns specified trigger or all triggers on/off for all players.

Gamemode-Specific

chat:/lateJoiners <on|off>
ini:[CustomMode]LateJoiners

When turned off, all players who join after the pregame is over are automatically Out (in LRS/TLRS/XLRS) or Zombies (in Pestilence)

chat:/captureWait <on|off>
ini:[CTF.Settings]CaptureWait

When on, players cannot capture flags (in CTF, DCTF, and Flag Run) within five seconds of joining or dying. This is used to combat lag.

Lives Per Team
chat:/livesPerTeam <number>
ini:[CustomMode]LivesPerTeam

Sets number of lives (1–100) each team receives in Team Last Rabbit Standing.

Max Lives
chat:/maxLives <number>
ini:[CustomMode]MaxLives

The number of lives (1–100) players start with in LRS/TLRS/XLRS. Changing this midgame does not automatically update players' current lives without using the /reset command.

Max Number of Team Players
chat:/maxTeamPlayers <number>
ini:[CustomMode]MaxTeamPlayers

For Team Last Rabbit Standing, sets the max number of players allowed to have lives on each team.

chat:/passing <on|off>
ini:[CTF.Settings]Passing

When on, injured teammates automatically pass their flag (in CTF, DCTF, and Flag Run) or gems (in Head Hunters) to nearby teammates with full health. No effect when Max Health is 1, of course.

chat:/release

Releases all players from jail if game mode is Jailbreak.

chat:/reset

Resets the game. The current gamemode stays unchanged, but everyone's scores, lives, etc. are reset.

chat:/resetAllTeams <on|off>
ini:[CustomMode]ResetAllTeams

When enabled, both teams have their ammo and health reset after a round ends in Death CTF or Jailbreak.

For the time being, this means both teams get roasted after a round ends.

Set Lives
chat:/setLives <playerID> <number>

Sets a player's lives (1–100). Only works in LRS, TLRS (not during pregame), and XLRS.

For Clients and Server running JJ2+

These local settings affect just your local game, rather than the whole server: you can always use them even if you're not a remote admin.

Settings

chat:/loadSettings

Loads configuration settings of plus.ini (automatically done at startup).

Compare to Reset Settings, for admins requesting that the server load from plus.ini.

chat:/loadSettings <filename>
cmd:-settings=<filename>

Loads configuration settings from an alternate .ini file of your choice.

chat:/saveSettings

Saves configuration settings to plus.ini.

chat:/saveSettings <filename>

Saves configuration settings to the filename specified.

Filename must be at least 5 characters long ending with the .ini extension.

Spectating

chat:/spectate <on|off>

Enables/disables Spectator Mode if you're in a JJ2+ server and Spectating is allowed. Possible even when you are Out in LRS-based gamemodes.

Spectate Target
chat:/spectate <target>

  • A player number (1–32)
  • "blue flag" in CTF/DCTF
  • "red flag" in CTF/DCTF
  • "flag" in Flag Run
  • "ring holder" in Roast Tag
  • "bottom feeder" in Roast Tag
  • "cp <number>" for Control Point in Domination
  • All these targets are also available by pressing / once spectating.

Music

chat:/autoVolumeLeveling <on|off>
ini:[General]AutoVolumeLeveling

Automatically attempts to raise the volume of any music track (except .j2b or .669) if it is not loud enough. This feature may momentarily cause a slight slow down to JJ2 as the appropriate volume level is found. JJ2's music volume setting is never adjusted.

chat:/changeMusic <filename>

Changes next level to <filename> if it exists.

chat:/moduleMusicOnly <on|off>

When enabled, music files with the .mp3 or .ogg file extensions are not loaded. Intended for use when you are streaming or recording gameplay, so that your stream/video is not deleted or demonetized.

chat:/restartMusic

Restarts the music currently being played.

3D Mode

This section is heavily deprecated.

3D Depth
chat:/3DDepth <number>
ini:[General]DepthOf3D

Sets the depth of the 3D effect. Must be between 0 and 25. 0 means completely 'flat', whereas 25 is the most agressive 3D depth setting and may cause headaches since it requires you to cross your eyes badly.

3D Mode
chat:/3D <on|off>

Switches 3D Mode on or off.

3D Orientation
chat:/3D <SBS|TAB>
ini:[General]SideBySide3D

Switches 3D Mode on in either Side-By-Side or Top-And-Bottom mode, respectively.

ini:[General]AlwaysOnTop

Lets the game window be displayed on top of other applications even when it's not the focused window.

chat:/run <on|off>
ini:[General]AlwaysRunning

Unlike capslock, this works even when there is more than one local player, and has the side benefit of not making everything you type uppercase.

chat:/quirks <on|off>
ini:[General]AlwaysShowInGamePings

Shows players' ping times (in milliseconds) in the player list even when F9 has been pressed only once, instead of twice as usual.

Angelscript Debug

ini:[General]BetaSprites

Replaces the sprites for all gems and soda pickups with the equivalent sprites from beta versions of JJ2.

Corpse Delay
chat:/corpseDelay <seconds>
ini:[General]CorpseDelay

Unless playing in Instagib, the dead bodies of players will stick around for a number of seconds after being roasted before finally fading away. If <seconds> equals 0, corpses will not be left behind at all. This is a local setting only and has no effect on gameplay.

FPS Limiter
chat:/maxFPS <max>
ini:[General]MaxFPS
[General]MaxFPSDirectDraw (default 120)
[General]MaxFPSMinimized (default 50)

By default, JJ2+ slightly limits the game's FPS to reduce CPU load. You can set target FPS by editing the plus.ini fields, or by using the /maxFPS command to modify the current limit, depending on the window properties. Higher target values reduce stuttering (up to your hardware's capabilities) but increase CPU load, and may have unknown unforeseen consequences.

This may be a temporary setting. We hope to replace it with something more nuanced later. Discuss it in this thread.

chat:/flipMouseWheel <on|off>
ini:[General]FlipMouseWheel

Reverses the order of weapon cycling via the mouse wheel.

chat:/readyFF <on|off>
ini:[General]ReadyGivesFastFire

Only available when the game is stopped at the very beginning, and only if Allow Ready is on.

chat:/hideSpectators <on|off>
ini:[General]HideSpectatorsDuringOngoingGame

Hides spectators from the player list when the game is started, and either Game Info is 1 and Tab is not pressed, or else Game Info is 0 and Tab is pressed.

Horn Frequency
ini:[General]HornFrequency

Should a horn sound play when you press a number key to change weapon and there's only one local player? Accepted values are 3 (always), 2 (only if a weapon other than blaster), 1 (only if you don't have any ammo of the weapon), and 0 (never). Unpatched JJ2 used value 2; JJ2+ defaults to value 1. Values other than those four are undefined.

ini:[General]IconsLeftOfNames

Picks which side gamemode-related icons (flags, skulls, locks, etc.) are drawn of players' names in the F9 player list.

Joystick 1 Mouse Axes
ini:[General]Joystick1MouseXAxis
[General]Joystick1MouseYAxis

Axis numbers, 0–3 if enabled, to identify the right stick on Player 1's controller. (Different controller models use different axis numbers for the right stick, so unfortunately you will need to determine/set these numbers yourself based on your own particular controller.)

Me
chat:/me <text>

Displays <text> as an IRC-style action message. For example, typing /me is waiting would produce a *BlurredD is waiting message.

chat:/mouseAim <on|off>
ini:[General]MouseAim

Toggles the local player's willingness to use 360 Degree Aiming when it is allowed.

ini:[General]MultithreadedLighting

Runs JJ2's ambient lighting code in parallel across multiple threads, which should be faster on newer computers but slower on older ones.

If the server host mutes a player, that player cannot use most commands.

chat:/noCTFColors <on|off>
/noCTFColours <on|off>
ini:[CTF.Settings]NoCTFColors

When on, players in team-based gamemodes will use their normal fur colors (their guns and shoes will not be repainted to match their team), though their names will still use their team colors. This is a local setting only.

Player List Sort
ini:[General]PlayerListSort

What sorting style (1–3) to use in the player list, incremented ingame by pressing Ctrl+F9.

chat:/quirks <on|off>

When Quirks Mode is disabled (default), it becomes harder to get stuck in ceilings, it's possible to morph to Lori by physically destroying a morph box, destroying a morph box with a special move morphs you once instead of twice, getting hurt while on an H-Pole event doesn't get you stuck in the floor, and Wind and Belt events can't get you stuck against walls. Turning Quirks Mode on temporarily reenables all those old bugs in case a specific level (e.g. many "Ground Force" levels) requires one.

An option removed from JJ2 before release to freely rescale the game window by dragging its edges without affecting the ingame resolution. Changing resolutions while this option is enabled may have unattractive results.

chat:/emoji <on|off>
ini:[General]Emoji

Enables/disables the display of emoji in chat. This is a local setting only.

ini:[General]ShowMaxHealth

Shows the hearts each player is currently missing in black.

chat:/showPasswordsAndIPs <on|off>

Passwords are censored in the /login, /password, and /setAdminPass commands, as well as when joining or configuring servers. Admin chat is censored. The /getAdminPass command is not available. You may intentionally enable this setting if you are confident you are not streaming and will not be taking screenshots of your game with this sensitive information visible.

chat:/spectatingCameraShift <on|off>
ini:[General]SpectatingCameraShift

Whether the camera's focus should shift while spectating another player based on that player's speed and whether they're looking upwards or downwards. When disabled, the spectated player will remain exactly in the center of the screen no matter what they're doing.

Whisper
chat:/whisper <playerID> <message>
/w <playerID> <message>
@<playerID> <message>

Sends a private message to one other player, if Allow Whispering is on. To prevent cheating in duels or similar scenarios, spectators may not whisper to non-spectators nor vice versa

Only JJ2+ clients, not the server

chat:/downloadSameMusicVersion <on|off>
ini:[Client]DownloadSameMusicVersion

When this and Downloading Music are both enabled, client always downloads music even if a music file with the same name already exists but is a different version (that is, the music file has a different CRC than the version the server has).

chat:/downloadMusic <on|off>
ini:[Client]DownloadMusic

Enables/disables downloading music from the server if the server allows it.

Audio formats client can download: J2B, XM, IT, S3M, MOD, MTM, UMX, MO3, MP3, OGG.

The Esc key can be pressed to stop downloading music but stay in the server.
